Joanne Highland is a vocalist and songwriter based in Los Angeles, CA.
Having always played music from a young age, Joanne focused on voice as her main instrument when she studied at USC’s Thornton School of Music. Throughout college, she was an active member of various ensembles, including the contemporary a cappella group USC Reverse Osmosis, and the USC Trojan Marching Band and Concert Band as an instrumentalist.
With a penchant for the reggae genre, Joanne has been active on stage and in the studio with several groups in the Los Angeles area, including her own band, Penny Reel, which she fronted from 2004-2012, actively gigging around Los Angeles at various iconic venues. One of her favorite moments on stage so far was having the privilege of singing background vocals for the legendary Jamaican reggae singer Ken Boothe.
Additionally, Joanne has recorded with several notable bands and artists from LA (Chris Murray, members of Aggrolites) as well as Boston (Westbound Train / Obi Fernandez, Hayley Jane and the Primates).
