On behalf of 1UM Promotions, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the 2018 Bradford Ska & Vintage Reggae Festival.

This year, after taking the decision to move home to the Underground Venue in Bradford Centre, we took a risk to try and make the Festival more accessible and still give the same quality of Live Bands and DJ’s for a cheaper price and hopefully create a far more intimate atmosphere. I can honestly say, I think we succeeded!!!

The Bands were excellent throughout the evening and must be congratulated on the quality and ranges of Ska & Reggae styles performed on the night, there was something to please everyone and was complimented by the vinyl DJ’s that supported the night.

The Highlight of the Festival was the number of people that attended from all over the UK, as well as Bradford, there were people from Leeds, Middlesbrough, Stoke, Blackpool, Morecambe, London, Manchester, Sheffield, Hartlepool and York (and a few more) and that made the event a special occasion, it really is heart warming that so many people can gather together in Bradford and get on with each other so well, it was a joy to see everyone dancing, talking, drinking and laughing together, it just shows how Ska and Reggae music brings so many people together in unity!

I would like to give a big thanks to the Bands, Pepperjam, Love Generation, The Uplifters, The Skatuesques and Natural Rhythm, who gave brilliant sets and really contributed to the overall Festival atmosphere, also, the DJ’s from The Infamous Boots, Bellies and Braces, along with Trojan Explosion and our very own Big Jeff George.

A special thanks must go to the Underground Staff, Nigel and particularly Lisa (and not forgetting the Bar Staff), plus help from all our family and friends, who have worked together with 1UM Promotions to get the Bradford Ska & Vintage Reggae Festival back to how it should be, GREAT!!!

Above all, it is you, the crowd, that made the event something special, a lovely mix of people that gave a helping hand where needed, danced the night away, made our job easier, had a drink or two and laughed and smiled the whole night through and that’s what makes it all worthwhile and what Ska and Vintage reggae is all about, one big happy family!!!
